Sheriff Kevin White: Keynote Speaker at Franklin County Republican Convention
Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White will be the keynote speaker during Franklin County Republican's Annual Convention, March 21.
Since Sheriff White's election in 2022, the Franklin County Sheriff's Department has kept $127 million of drugs off the streets and roads of Franklin County and surrounding areas.
In addition, the department has conducted more than 90 threat assessments at Franklin County schools.
According to an April 2025 profile issued by Office of Violence Prevention, NC Department of Public Safety, violent crime in Franklin County decreased 68% from 2024 to 2025.
The Sheriff and his staff have led the Opioid Settlement Fund of Franklin County, creating the Substance Abuse Mental Health Advocacy Response Team (SMART). To date, the Department has hired a program director, social worker, data analyst, and community support investigator. The strategy is to provide safe diversion options to support residents who struggle with addiction and mental health issues. A social worker now consults directly with the Patrol Division of the Sheriff’s Office to divert people who may be diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder or may have mental illness from being detained in jail if more appropriate resources are identified.
