Mark Robinson Outlines Priorities, Wows Franklin County Republicans

Future North Carolina Governor Mark Robinson spoke to a packed, energized and standing room only crowd at Curtsy's Cafe & Burger Bar in Franklinton on September 24, 2024. He focused on plans to enhance economic strength, support sound business growth, improve government agencies' effectiveness, increase public safety and prioritize career-readiness for K-12 students.
Robinson told Franklin County Republicans he would champion innovation and the freedom of every individual to pursue the American dream.
For a moment, Robinson took Republicans down memory lane, asking them to recall when Democrats were in control of the state's finances. Josh Stein was elected to the North Carolina State Senate in 2008. In 2009, the state was in a $4.6 billion budget hole. Teacher pay was frozen.
Under Governor Mark Robinson, we won't be going back to the weak policies and poor decisions that resulted in that economic mess, a crisis finally fixed only after we elected a Republican majority in both the State House and Senate.
Today, the State of North Carolina maintains a surplus.
Although Robinson spoke only briefly about his progressive Democrat opponent, he also highlighted Stein's weaknesses as State Attorney General. Stein's refusal to enforce laws passed by the legislature resulted in political conflict and undermined voter confidence. In 2021, Stein was removed as the Legislature's legal representation before the courts.
As Robinson outlined his priorities, he said he would:
- Prefer to shrink K-12 school bureaucracy while providing additional support to teachers;
- Seek to eliminate Critical Race Theory in the schools;
- Place a stronger focus on career-readiness for graduating students;
- Strongly advocate for school choice;
- Ensure no state government agency is weaponized against the people.
